The Edgar Allan Poe Awards (more commonly known as the Edgars) are presented every year by the Mystery Writers of America, an organization of mystery and crime writers founded in 1945. Named after writer, editor and critic Edgar Allan Poe (1808-1849), the awards honor the best in mystery fiction, nonfiction, television, film, and theater published or produced in the previous year.
