By Paul Carrier
Duncan McCallum, the lone survivor of a Highland Scots clan slaughtered by the British, is forging a new life in 1760 when he and his Native American companion Conawago discover a Virginia militia officer nailed to a tree in the Pennsylvania wilderness.
Other ritualistic murders soon come to light as a British victory looms in the waning years of the French and Indian War, but the mysterious killings seem to be linked to colonial land grabs rather than backwoods warfare.
As Pennsylvania, Virginia, the Iroquois and other Indian tribes maneuver for control of the Ohio country, McCallum, and Conawago search for answers in a rapidly changing world where McCallum develops a strong bond with native leaders. Eye of the Raven is the second entry in Eliot Pattison’s Bone Rattler series.
